About FPAGC:
The Family Physician Airways Group of Canada is committed to helping those with airway diseases lead a full life. The group is dedicated to helping all family physicians maintain and increase their skill in assisting those with Asthma, COPD, and other respiratory diseases.
The FPAGC was created as the Family Physician Asthma Group of Canada in March 1983 to improve the primary care management of asthma. It has now grown to a membership of about 800 family physicians all across Canada with a few members who are Canadian-certified working in the USA. Our executive consists of family physicians from across Canada all working in a volunteer fashion for the group. We changed our name to the Family Physician Airways Group of Canada a few years ago to reflect the time spent educating on non-asthma airway related issues, such as respiratory infection, COPD, nasal airway conditions, anaphylaxis and allergy.
The group is active across the entire spectrum of primary care respiratory medicine and is involved with specialist organizations as partners in respiratory care decisions nationally and internationally.
We have been involved in the creation of consensus guidelines and the development of CME programs, including three Mainpro C accredited workshops. The FPAGC also produces a regular newsletter that is distributed to our members, which highlights respiratory issues. The Group is on the web at www.fpagc.com.
Our goal is to continue to grow and expand our involvement with family physicians as we endeavor to provide them with high quality resources in the management of respiratory diseases. We would like to empower family physicians to provide the highest level of care for their patients with respiratory illness.
