ANNOUNCING NEW SPIROMETRY COURSE FOR PRIMARY CARE!
The Canadian Guidelines recommend the use of spirometry for the diagnosis and management of both asthma and COPD.
The SPIROTrec© (Spirometry Training and Education Course) will be offered in conjunction with the IPCRG in Toronto, June 2010. It is administered by the Lung Association and endorsed by the Family Physicians Airway Group of Canada, The Canadian Thoracic Society, and the Canadian Respiratory Healthcare Professionals.
The goal is to teach participants how to conduct quality spirometry according to ATS/ERS standards.
Eligibility includes clinic staff and health care professionals who conduct spirometry on a regular basis.
The Course structure includes: pre-workshop: written and on-line course material (est. 10 hrs) available one month prior to the workshop; one-day hands-on workshop; three months of clinical support (submission of 5-10 spirometry reports/month for feedback and critique of skills); and a final on-line exam.
A certificate will be issued at the successful completion of course components.
